SO, WHAT IS A FARM SHARE?

Our Farm Share program is similar to CSAs, which stands for Community Supported Agriculture. By becoming a member, you are signing up for 24 weeks (May - October) of super delicious, nutrient dense foods planted, picked and packaged just for you from our farm! The Farm Share works as a subscription, where you purchase the membership ahead of time and then pick up your bag of goodies at one of our drop off locations. It’s a super easy way to shop at the markets, while still enjoying a wide diversity of foods.

WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?

Diversity is important on our farm, and on your plate!  You can look forward to 5-7 different items picked fresh in your share every week.  During the warmer months we look forward to sharing the bounty of summer with you as well, expanding the varieties when we can.  Examples of items could be: a bunch of crispy carrots, a container of bright green peas or a single juicy melon.  The amounts will be comparable to our farmer’s market bunches and those you would find in the grocery store.

We find that the amount of veggies is good for 1 person who cooks a lot (and loves vegetables!), or 2-3 folks who cook multiple times a week. We try to include veggies with a diversity of uses too! Many bags also include yummy things that aren’t veggies, like our mulberry jam, fresh milled corn grits and wheat flour.

WHERE DO I PICK UP?

For our Lawrence folks, we delivered your weekly veggies to your door, what a deal! On Friday’s we offer on-farm pick up from 1-3 for folks who live close or want to come out to the farm for a visit. And finally, the Brookside Farmer’s Market in the KC Metro has been our Saturday pick up from 8am-1pm.

WHY JOIN THE FARM SHARE?

There are so many reasons to become part of Sacred Sun Farm for the season. We love to shower our Farm Share members with the best and most special produce we have. If we have limited supply, it goes to you and often, the Farm Share bag is bursting at the seams, providing you with well more than $20 worth of produce. We also create on-farm goodies that only go to the Farm Share. This includes our mulberry jam, fresh ground corn grits and wheat flour.

We encourage our Members to visit us at the farm! We have trails and spaces for camping, that are open for you. Digging your hands in the dirt, or just getting to walk the fields where your food is grown is also highly encouraged. Connection is key here, folks. We keep you in the loop with an email every week including our updates, what’s in your bag, and recipes to inspire your cooking.

The reality is that it takes a whole community to keep a small diverse farm running. We farm because we believe in local food security and connection to the earth. The Farm Share is for you, if you care about your food and the farmers who grow it. We rely on our neighbors to invest in us, so we can keep providing delicious and nutrient dense foods. It’s a beautiful show of reciprocity in every way.
